Industrial Zones in Quang Tri

Northern Central / Quang Tri


- Geographic location: Quang Tri is is bounded by QuangBinh province to the North, by Laos to the West, to the sea to the East and ThuaThien Hue province to the South.

- Area: 4,760.1 km2.

- Topographic features: The province has a part of Truong Son mountain chain running along the west and the long coastalline running along the east. It divided in to 5 special areas: high mountain (limestone and rough stone), hill and low mountains (medium schist and basalt), plain, valley and coastal interior field.

- Administrative units: The province is divided one city (Dong Ha city) and one town (Quang Tri town) and 8 districts which are Vinh Linh, Gio Linh, Cam Lo, TrieuPhong, Hai Lang, Huong Hoa, Da Krong and Con Co Island.

- Population: 600,500 people

Resources

- Natural resources: The province has 75km of coastal line, 8,400km2 of fishing area with high economic value seafood such as lobster, cuttlefish, cam fish, goby, holothurians, etc. Its mineral resources are various with 74 mines and ore points that are suitable for growing long-term industrial crops with high economic value such as limestone in Tam and Ta Rung, 20,000 hectares of basalt red soil in Vinh Linh, Gio Linh, Cam Lo and Huong Hoa districts.

- Tourism resources: The province has great potential for cultural & tourism development with huge number of special cultural and historical monuments, many places of interest such as HienLuong river banks, VinhMoc tunnels, Quang Tri ancient city, Road No. 9- KheXanh, Ho Chi Minh route, Sac Tu communal house, La Vang Church, Cua Tung, Cua Viet beaches, Ru Lich, Tram Loc, Dakrong primeval forests, etc.

- Human resources: In 2010, the population of the province was 633,075 people. The number of people of working age was 336,327 including 159,736 female (the province’s population was 627,077). Agricultural labourers accounted for 79.65%. Trained labourers accounted for 23.3%.

Infrastructures


- Transportation system: Quang Tri is situated 598km from Hanoi and 1,112km from Ho Chi Minh City. There are national highway No. 1 and Ho Chi Minh route, national highway No. 9 connecting with cross-Asia road running through Lao Baobordergate to Laos. There is North-South railway route with 7 stations running through the province. Cua Viet sea port allow the circulation of 10,000 ton ships if upgraded.

- Water supply system: All communes, townlets, economic and industrial zones are supplied with water by plants. 85% of the population has access to clean water.

- Power supply: the electricity grid of the province supplies.

- Post and telecommunication system: all communes have been connected with power supply sytem and using telephones. 80% of households are supplied with electricity and there are 12.3 telephones per 100 people.

- Industrial zones: The province has two industrial zones: Southern Dong Ha town IZ with the total area of 99.03 hectares and QuanNgang IZ with the total area of 139 hectares in the first phase and 66 hectares in the next phase.

- GDP growth rate: the rate in the period of 2006-2010 was 10.7%

- Economic structure: has been shifting in the way of increasing the proportion of industry and services while decreasing that of agriculture.

Investment attraction status


1. The total investment capital in the period of 2001-2005 was 5,600 billion VND, of which domestic investment accounted for 83% and 17% was foreign investment.

2. The total investment capital from 2006 to 2010 was 17,479 billion VND, of which domestic investment comprised of 90.8% and the tiny 9.2% was foreign investment.

3. The number of investment projects
+ More than 60 domestic projects with the total registered capital of over 4,100 billion VND and implemented capital of 3,700 billion VND
+ 10 FDI projects with the total registered capital of 47.97 million USD and implemented capital of 33 million USD
